MANILA, Philippines -- The first trailer for the upcoming biographical film "El Presidente" gives a glimpse of the struggles leading up the historic declaration of Philippine independence.
Released online via the video-sharing site YouTube, the first trailer for the biopic shows E.R. Ejercito as General Emilio Aguinaldo, as he relives the personal milestones of the first Philippine president.
An official entry to the 39th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), "El Presidente: General Emilio Aguinaldo Story and the First Philippine Republic" is written and directed by Mark Meilly.
Produced by Scenema Concept International, the biopic also stars Nora Aunor, Cristine Reyes, Christopher de Leon and Cesar Montano.
Opening on Christmas Day, "El Presidente" is Ejercito's follow-up to "Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story," which reaped top honors at last year's MMFF.
