Cinema One calls for entries from new writers, filmmakers

 MANILA, Philippines – Cinema One is calling all screenplay writers, actors and directors as they launch Cinema One Originals 2011 to shore up the local film industry.

Being instrumental in helping close the gap between commercial filmmaking and the more indie approach, Cinema One initiated this project with the aim of giving new writers and filmmakers the freedom in creating new films. There is no specific theme that must be followed.

Those interested must submit a completed screenlpay with a corresponding updated curriculum vitae and application form. Application forms are downloadable at Cinema One official website or at Cinema One office, 8th floor of the ELJ Building ABS-CBN along Mother Ignacia St. Quezon City. The deadline of submission is on January 14, 2011.

Cinema One Originals will choose 10 finalists for 2011 and will be awarded P1,000,000 each. Finalists will be announced on March 2011.

According to Cinema One Originals executive producer Ronald Arguelles, next year’s digifestival will feature the aggressiveness, courage and diversity of the Filipino filmmakers.

Cinema One Originals is known as one of the major film festivals in the movie landscape. It started in 2005 and was able to produce a number of films that have won awards locally and internationally.

Cinema One Originals is owned and produced by Cinema One, the top movie cable channel in the country which is owned and operated by Creative Programs, Inc.
