MANILA - Korean actor Park Bo Gum, the star of the hit period drama "Love in the Moonlight," was mobbed by adoring fans as he arrived at the Mactan Cebu International Airport from South Korea on Friday.
Park was the focus of the chaotic scenes just outside the terminal as his admirers excitedly tried to grab him while he made his way to a private vehicle.
"The struggle is real," a fan wrote as the caption to a clip she uploaded on Twitter. In it, she was heard shouting Park's name, while other fans surrounded the vehicle undeterred by the police escort.
It prompted an unofficial fan account to call for calm from Park's Filipino supporters: "Please [give] them the relaxation and enjoyment that they are looking for in Cebu. [Behave] and [respect] their personal spaces."
In an earlier report from the Daily K-Pop News, Park's Cebu trip was said to be a reward for his historical drama's high ratings.
"Love in the Moonlight," also known as "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds," ranked first among Korean dramas in a list released last month by the Korea Institute of Corporate Reputation.
It is set to be aired locally on ABS-CBN at an undisclosed date.
