MANILA -- The romantic-comedy film featuring the team-up of Bea Alonzo, Dingdong Dantes and Enrique Gil easily passed the P10-million mark in earnings on its first day in theaters nationwide.
"She's the One," which is among the 20th anniversary offerings of the ABS-CBN's Star Cinema, earned P12 million after its opening day on October 16.
The figure was disclosed by the film outfit's advertising and promotions manager, Mico del Rosario, on micro-blogging site Twitter, noting it to be a "blockbuster."
In comparison, Alonzo's most recent big-screen starrers, Star Cinema's "The Mistress" (2012) and "Four Sisters and a Wedding" (2013), earned P25 million and P15 million, respectively, on opening day.
Directed by Mae Cruz and written by Vanessa Valdez, "She's the One" tells the story of best friends Wacky (Dantes) and Cat (Alonzo), whose complicated relationship takes a turn when he unwittingly helps a young man (Gil) win her heart.
Aside from the fresh team-up of its lead stars, the film marks Dantes' third ABS-CBN movie after the hits "Segunda Mano" and "One More Try," for which he won back-to-back best actor trophies.
"She's the One" also stars Maricar Reyes, Liza Soberano, Tony Mabesa, Perla Bautista, Pinky Amador, Guji Lorenzana, RS Francisco, Marc Solis, Erika Padilla, Garlic Garcia, Daniel Matsunaga, LJ Reyes and Coleen Garcia.
