MANILA, Philippines -- Roberto Seña, the lead vocalist of new band She's Only Sixteen, is hoping to step out of the shadow of his famous parents.
Roberto grew up listening to the music of his parents, musical theater veterans and former original "Miss Saigon" cast members Robert Seña and Isay Alvarez.
"I'm proud of them but then it would be cheap of me to do that as a clutch, to make myself famous, " Roberto said at the launch of the band's debut album on Wednesday.
"They are very supportive. They are just happy for me. They gave me advice how to take care of my voice and stuff," he added.
She's Only Sixteen launched their self-titled debut album under Universal Records. Aside from Roberto, the band is also composed of bassist Anjo Silvoza, guitarist Andrew Panopio and drummer King Puentespina.
"Our music is what we like. It's something that came out from all our influences together," Roberto said, citing The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Phoenix and MGMT, among others.
