MANILA, Philippines – Following his string of successes as the newest Kapamilya heartthrob, young actor Daniel Padilla said he hopes to buy a new car as a way of "rewarding" himself for his hard work.
“Gusto ko talaga ng kotse, Dodge na Charger. Ang ganda eh. Ang tapang nu’ng kotse na ‘yun. Gift ko na ‘yun sa sarili ko,” Padilla said in an interview with entertainment website Push.com.ph.
Apart from starring as “Gino” in ABS-CBN's top-rating series "Princess and I", the 17-year-old actor's debut album has become a local hit, reaching gold status only a month after its release. Padilla is set to follow up with a sophomore record, in addition to his band's possible on-disc outing.
“I make time for my band (Parking 5) talaga kasi kailangan ko din eh, gusto ko talaga. Pinu-pursigi ko ‘yung sarili ko para matuloy ang banda,” he said of his musical aspirations.
While he is aware of his massive success as a teen star, Padilla does not let this get to his head, as it was borne of "sweat" and hard work.
"Thankful ako pero walang yabang, kasi trinabaho mo 'yun eh 'di ba? Magyabang ka kung pagkagising mo may ganu’n ka na, may billboard ka na bigla," he said.
"Ito kasi pinaghirapan mo. Pinagtrabahuhan mo, pinagpawisan mo. Kaya pag nakita mo, pasalamat ka na lang 'di ba," he added.
With "Princess and I" nearing its end, Padilla only intends to continue working hard regardless of the role given to him in upcoming projects.
"Hindi ko iniisip kung anong gusto ko sa susunod. Basta kung anong dumating, kung anong ibigay sa akin, eh gagalingan ko," he said.
