MANILA, Philippines (1st UPDATE)– Professional basketball superstar James Yap answered the latest bits of intrigues in his personal life.
Yap, estranged husband of Kris Aquino, has recently been romantically linked to model-actress Isabel Oli.
Yap denied any romantic relationship with the actress, clarifying that he merely ran into Oli at a mall and the two struck up a conversation.
“Kaibigan ko lang yon. Nagkasalubong lang kami sa isang mall, hi, hello. May kasama naman siya so impossibleng [nag-date kami],” he said. “Kasama ko ang mga pinsan ko, galing Canada. Sinamahan ko sila. Nagulat na lang ako na may ganoong issue na lumalabas.”
Yap pointed out that he is not yet ready to be in a relationship as he is still in the middle of a case ending his 5-year marriage to Aquino.
“Ang sasabihin ko lang, kung mayroon na ako, sasabihin ko sa buong mundo,” he said.
Yap remained mum when asked about the case.
Yap also divulged that he has not seen his son, baby James, since news broke that the 3-year-old child has been diagnosed with hand, foot and mouth disease.
“Simula noong nagkasakit sila, hindi ko pa sila nakita,” Yap revealed. “Nakausap ko siya, happy na ako. Sabi kasi ng doktor na bawal daw munang dalawin dahil nakakahawa raw. Mga one more week pa.”
The basketball star did share he bought his son a toy to help ease the boy's reported illness.
“So, pinadalhan ko na lang ng ‘bang-bang’. Kinausap ko siya, sabi ko, nagustuhan niya ba ‘yong bang-bang. Sabi niya, ‘Oo Papa, thank you. I love you Papa,’” he added.
Yap and other personalities from the entertainment industry, politics and other sectors graced the opening of lawyer Lorna Kapunan and her partners's new office.
The PBA player is one of Kapunan's high-profile clients.
Other celebrities who attended the event were Hayden Kho and his rumored girlfriend Dra. Vicki Belo.
Martin Castro, the best friend of actor Derek Ramsay, was also spotted in the event. Castro recently found himself in the middle of a controversy after he was romantically linked to a married actress, Claudine Barretto.
Also present was Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda.
