MANILA -- Actor and Callalily vocalist Kean Cipriano on Wednesday confirmed that he is set to marry his wife Chynna Ortaleza in a simple and intimate church wedding in Manila next month.
"Actually we call it a church blessing than a wedding," Cipriano clarified in an interview with ABS-CBN News.
"Tinry namin na mag-mount ng out-of-town (wedding) pero hindi nag-work out sa amin. Hindi talaga nagwo-work sa amin 'yung malalaking stuff. I mean lagi kami doon sa compact, intimate. So it's not the usual na grand wedding. Kumbaga 'yung gusto lang namin ni Chynna eh 'yung essense, kung bakit ba namin ginagawa eh para magpa-bless, get blessing from God," he explained.
Cipriano and Ortaleza were already married in a civil ceremony in 2015.
Aside from their respective families, next month's wedding will be attended only by their closest friends.
"There are few celebrities also, 'yung mga kaibigan ni Chynna like si Glaiza de Castro. Maliit lang talaga siya, less than a 100," Cipriano said.
Asked of the role of their daughter Stellar in the wedding, the singer said: "Supposedly ring bearer namin siya pero baka kasi mawala 'yung singsing, basta walang pressure na pagdating sa kanya. Kung gusto niyang maglakad at umabot siya hanggang dulo eh okay. But definitely ang main role niya sa wedding namin ay magpasaya, magbigay ng good vibes."
What would make their church wedding even more memorable is the fact that it will coincide with their second anniversary.
"Kasal na rin naman kasi kami ni Chynna pero ito kasi there's this feeling na ito kasi... kung may event sa buhay ko, ito ang pinaka-importante at pinakamalaki 'yung kasal. ...Excited ako. Natutuwa ako paggising ko sa umaga nakikita ko ang misis ko. Ano pa kung nakita kong nakaayos siya as my bride? That's what really excites me, 'yung makita si Chynna sa moment na 'yon," the "I Can See Your Voice" star said.
Cipriano has known Ortaleza since 2008. They met while filming a television show for another network.
Currently, Cipriano is busy doing movies. Aside from being part of Star Cinema's "Seven Sundays," he will also star in "Hilom: Doctors to the Barrio" with Julia Montes.
He will also part of the Cinema One Originals' black comedy film "Historio Graphika Errata" and the 2017 Metro Manila Film Festival entry "All Of You."
Cipriano and his band Callalily will also release a new single soon.
