MANILA - Television host and actress Kris Aquino shared to reporters that Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista took her out to lunch three weeks ago to talk about her stalled project and their failed relationship.
"Napagusapan namin lahat ng kapalpakan, pagkakamali and all," said Aquino, who was romantically linked with the actor-turned-politician more than two years ago, in her first public appearance since leaving ABS-CBN Tuesday afternoon.
"And the one thing that came out of that lunch is that we both realized that if you want a relationship -- I'm not talking about him kasi nasa friendzone na kami -- pero kung gusto mo talaga na magka-chance, you keep it to yourself, lalo na when you're public. It was very healing for both of us."
Aquino added that Bautista asked her out to lunch after finding out about the problems in her career, which she refused to detail.
The former Kapamilya did, however, describe herself as "collateral damage" after talks about her television comeback appeared to have hit a snag.
"He knew what I've been going through professionally. And I think there's enough there of a history na alam niya how much this has affected me. So sabi niya, 'Kailangan mo ba na makikinig?'" she shared.
"He's been through defeat. And he said, 'Don't let that define you.' One thing that really struck with me. 'One bad person should not color your judgement about everybody else. If the deal went south, there's another deal.'"
Back in 2014, Aquino revealed that Bautista had asked for her hand in marriage when she opened up about their short-lived romance. It was reported that the Bautista's children with former partner Tates Gana were negatively affected by news on the relationship.
