British singer James Morrison arrives in Manila

MANILA, Philippines – British singer-songwriter James Morrison arrived in Manila before noon on Monday.

British singer-songwriter James Morrison says he is looking forward to singing before his Filipino fans for the first time.

Morrison landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at around 11 a.m. and was welcomed by fans and people from the media.

Morrison is in the country for a concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on October 9. He is currently doing a world tour to promote his album "The Awakening," which was released in September 2011.

He is the voice behind the hit songs “You Give Me Something,” “Wonderful World,” “The Pieces Don’t Fit Anymore,” “You Make It Real,” and “Broken Strings.”

In a brief interview at the airport, Morrison said he is excited to perform before his Filipino fans for the first time.

“[It’s gonna be a ] pure show, rock and roll evening,” he said of Tuesday's concert.

Morrison also said he is looking forward to a tropical break. “It's nice and sunny here. I'm looking forward to enjoying the sunshine,” he said.
