MANILA, Philippines - As per feedback from the audience, Rico J. Puno is the only hit among the "Hitmakers" in ABS-CBN’s noontime game show “Pilipinas, Win na Win.”
The rest of the group -- Marco Sison, Rey Valera and Nonoy Zuñiga -- have yet to prove their hosting skills, according to observers.
The "Hitmakers" made their debut on "Pilipinas, Win na Win" on Monday.
When sought for reaction, Valerie Concepcion, one of the program’s mainstays, was quick to defend the three underrated hosts.
“Well, magaling naman talaga pong magpatawa si Tito Rico dahil bihasa na siya r’yan pero siyempre, kauumpisan lang naman po nina Tito Nonoy. Later, they would learn the ropes of TV hosting. Ganyan naman po talaga ang nagsisimula,” defended Concepcion.
Concepcion is impressed by Puno’s hosting style. “May ibang dating si Tito Rico. Siyempre, sanay na sanay na siya to react with the crowd.”
Puno is also known for his naughty gags. Is Concepcion worried that she will become the object of the singer’s naughtiness? “Hindi ko pa naman po nararamdaman. Siguro naman po, hindi niya gagawin sa akin ‘yon. Well, of course, alam ko, mabiro siya,” she said.
It’s a different set of co-hosts this time, and Concepcion has just learned that tapping Puno, Sison, Valera and Zuñiga would draw in a new crowd.
“We would like to cater to televiewers who are 30 years old and above,” explained Concepcion.
The “Hitmakers” are still very popular among fans and music lovers who belong to the generation of the 70s and 80s.
“I can adjust naman po kahit na kanino sa show kaya walang problema sa akin kung sino ang kasama ko sa set. Ngayon, alam ko, nag-a-adjust kami pare-pareho,” she explained.
