MANILA, Philippines – In line with the celebration of World Teachers’ Day, talent manager and TV host Boy Abunda was recognized as an outstanding teacher in the university where he teaches.

Abunda is teaching Mass Communication students at the Philippine Women’s University (PWU) since June.

According to him, he is elated to be recognized and be given an award.

“Ako’y natutuwa dahil sa dami ng mga rewards na aking napagdaanan bilang isang talk show host, either I am an awardee or as a host, iba pa rin pala ang pakiramdam ng ganito. ‘Yong fulfillment iba. I’m proud to be there. I was so proud to be part of outstanding circle of teachers,” Abunda said.

He also acknowledged how fortunate he is to have an excellent batch of students, who learn with him throughout the process.

When asked if he is willing to leave the entertainment industry to teach full time, the King of Talk said he is open to the idea but he won’t do it anytime soon.

“This is a noble job, this is something that I’d like to do long after I have probably quit broadcast. I’ve been doing broadcast for many years now and it’s a journey. Maraming salamat PWU. Mula sa aking puso, sabi ko nga ito ay kakaibang pagkilala, ito’y kakaibang award na hindi ko pa nararanasan. Marami pong salamat,” he said.

Abunda added that receiving the award encourages him to give his best always.

“The thing about rewards is it reminds you to be better. It reminds you of the bigger responsibility that you are supposed to do and it reminds you not to be late for class. So you don’t go to work with just your red stilletos. You go to work equipped with your text books with the academic requirements and I’m just so proud na dito sa aking buhay ay natagpuan ko itong landas na ito,” he said.
