MANILA, Philippines – Will the elusive Box Office Queen title finally belong to actress Toni Gonzaga this year?
In 2010, Gonzaga was a strong contender to become the Box Office Queen due to the strong performance of her hit movie “My Amnesia Girl” with John Lloyd Cruz.

However, she lost to actress Ai-Ai delas Alas, who scored a big hit with “Ang Tanging Ina Mo Last Na ‘To!” and Gonzaga was instead named as Princess of Philippine Movies that year.
Now, Gonzaga is again set to headline the movie “This Guy’s In Love With You Mare,” which many believe is another potential blockbuster hit.
Asked if she is still expecting to win the Box Office Queen title, Gonzaga said: “Sabi ko siguro darating ‘yung time na magiging [Box Office] Queen din ako in due time. Pero dahil sa may dalawang Princess of Philippine Movies ako, okay na ako doon. Kung ‘yun muna ang akin, ‘yun na muna. Pero kung magiging queen na ako eventually, siguro in time ‘yon. Di naman ako magmamadali.”
Gonzaga said she is just hoping that people would appreciate her upcoming movie with Vice Ganda and Luis Manzano. The good reviews alone, she said, will be more than enough to make her feel appreciated.
“Noong nangyari 'yung ‘My Amnesia Girl’ lalo kong napatunayan na pinaka-bonus mo na at pinaka-reward mo na maibibigay mo sa sarili mo ay nagustuhan ng mga tao ang pelikula at nanood sila ng pelikula,” she said.
Meanwhile, Gonzaga refused to feel pressured over expectations that “This Guy’s In Love With You Mare” could match -- if not top -- Vice Ganda’s comedy film “The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin.”
“Praybeyt Benjamin” remains the top-grossing movie of all time in local cinema.
“Kinalimutan ko na 'yung pressure, ibinigay ko na lang sa kanilang lahat. Ayaw ko nang ma-pressure. Ibigay ko na lang ang best ko dito. Kung ano na lang ang desisyon nila,” she said.
More than feeling pressured, Gonzaga said she is confident and excited because her latest movie has a very good story to offer.
“Alam kong maganda itong materyal na mapapanood niyo kasi buo 'yung storya, buo 'yung kwento, may kinahinatnan ang bawat characters namin,” she said.
“This Guy’s In Love With You Mare” is set to hit theaters nationwide on October 10. - from a report by Push.com.ph
