MANILA – Aside from being a prestigious gathering of stars, two ABS-CBN executives were honored at the recently concluded Star Magic Ball for their passion and contributions to the entertainment scene.

One of them was Star Creatives’ chief operating officer Malou Santos, who was serenaded with her favorite songs by some of the Kapamilya network’s top singers.

KZ and Yeng Constantino led the performance by singing “Betcha By Golly Wow,” while Xian Lim performed “I Started A Joke.”

Denise Laurel, Jolina Magdangal and Antoinette Taus got the crowd grooving with “Dancing Queen,” while Vina Morales and Klarisse de Guzman belted out “That’s What Friends Are For.”

The singers concluded the number by performing “What the World Needs Now,” followed by a heartfelt message from Bea Alonzo, who looked back at her humble beginnings to her rise to stardom. Santos played a key role in the actress's career.

Another highlight of the night was the surprise recognition for Johnny “Mr. M” Manahan, for his mentoring and support to Star Magic talents then and now.

Since he is a huge Broadway fan, Star Magic’s most popular love teams performed numbers from “La La Land” and “Les Miserables.”

Daniel Padilla ushered in the “La La Land” production number with his rendition of “City of Stars.” His leading lady Kathryn Bernardo danced to “Someone in the Crowd,” along with Elmo Magalona and Janella Salvador, Mccoy de Leon and Elisse Joson, and Maris Racal and Inigo Pascual.

Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil, meanwhile, performed “Lovely Night.”

To cap off the tribute, Star Magic originals Claudine Barretto and Kristine Hermosa gave a telescope to Manahan, who loves stargazing.

The tribute was concluded by a speech from no less than ABS-CBN chief content officer Charo Santos to honor the man of the hour.

Meanwhile, the event also recognized several stars whose looks stood out among all the attendees. Among them were Bernardo, who took home the Pond’s Brightest Star of the Night, and Julia Barretto, who was hailed as the Pond’s Belle of the Ball.

“Pinoy Big Brother Lucky 7” housemates Kisses Delavin and Marco Gallo bagged the Cornetto Tip-to-Top Best Dressed award, while real-life sweethearts Jessy Mendiola and Luis Manzano received the Oppo Couple of the Night award.

But apart from all the glitz and glamour, the Star Magic Ball was also significant after Piolo Pascual led the donation of a total of P1 million to the Bantay Bata Foundation, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary.
