MANILA, Philippines - Newlywed Mariel Rodriguez has denied speculations that she's pregnant.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Rodriguez said having a baby is not yet part of her and husband Robin Padilla’s immediate plan.
"Matagal pa siya siguro. Mga 8 or 10 years from now siguro. Gusto namin kami muna atsaka marami ng anak si Robin," Rodriguez said.
Padilla has 4 children from his previous marriage.
When asked to comment on the issue, Padilla, on the other hand, said: "Masyadong mabilis. Ako muna ang baby!"
Just last week, the two admitted that they got married in India in August. Their admission came after a TV Patrol report about their Igorot wedding was aired. The 2 denied that the ceremony in Baguio was a wedding.
The couple will fly to the United States to meet Rodriguez's parents and to continue their honeymoon there.
"Ang gusto namin ay December. Ang gusto namin ay Christmas Day, December," Padilla said.
Rodriguez and the action star will exchange “I do’s” again in Catholic wedding rites.
Padilla, a Muslim, said he respects his wife’s religion that’s why they are planning to get married in a Catholic church. Padilla also stressed that he has no intention of asking his wife to convert to Islam.
The action star also maintained that they will avoid getting politicians to stand as their principal sponsors, saying they only want people who are close to them to be part of the ceremony.
He said these include the members of the entertainment media.
"Hangga’t maaari ay ayaw naming mahaluan ng politika. Hindi namin gagawin para magkaroon ng ninong at ninang na mabigat. Sapat na sa amin ang Diyos, ang pamilya at mga kaibigan namin," the actor said.
According to Rodriguez, fellow television host Bianca Gonzalez will be one of her bridesmaids.
Meanwhile, Padilla bared that he asked his wife not to get a tattoo.
Rodriguez initially said she wanted to have a tattoo that would symbolize her love for Padilla.
But the actor said what’s important is that they love each other.
Rodriguez and Padilla were among the stars who attended the Dutdutan Tattoo Festival in Pasay City.
Speaking of tattoo, Rodriguez also cleared rumors that she wanted Padilla to erase the tattoo that reportedly symbolizes his love for former sweetheart Megastar Sharon Cuneta.
The female host said she totally respects all the past romances of her hubby, including his relationship with Cuneta.
