MANILA, Philippines -- Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim has chosen another actor as his running mate in the 2013 local elections.
Lim officially announced that theater and movie actor Lou Veloso will be the vice mayoralty candidate of the Liberal Party in Manila.
He is very reliable at marunong tumupad sa sinumpaang tungkulin,” Lim said.
Veloso is currently a councilor for Manila's 6th District. He is in his fifth term as councilor.
Lim had partnered in the past with former actor and now Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno but the two had a falling out. Moreno is now running alongside former President Joseph Estrada.
On the reported remarks of Estrada’s remarks on Veloso’s looks, Lim said in jest: “Ano ang magagawa natin kung ginawa ng Panginoon na pangit kami?
Veloso gained renewed prominence after appearing in the Hollywood hit “The Bourne Legacy.”
