MANILA – Television host Robi Domingo admitted he feels slightly envious of his college batchmates who are now doctors.

In an interview with entertainment site Push, Domingo said he also once dreamed of pursuing medicine especially since both his parents are doctors.

“Siyempre may inggit kasi, magulang ko doctor, tapos sila (his friends). Actually, nag-bonding kami, hinihintay na nila yung resulta tapos makukuha nila yung license nila at naka-white coat pa sila. Yung iba pa nga doon nangongopya sa akin dati. Ngayon doctor na. So medyo nainggit ako ng slight,” he said.

This dream, however, did not materialize because a lot of opportunities in the entertainment industry came his way.

“Ang nangyari lang, kinausap ako ni Direk Lauren (Dyogi), sabi niya sa akin, just take a year off. Eh binigay po yung PBB. After PBB nagdire-diretso na po. Nagkaroon ng The Voice, Dance Kids, I Can Do That, then I’m so blessed, I’m just so lucky,” he said.

Nonetheless, Domingo admitted that there was a point when he asked himself if he made the right decision.

“I had that episode in my life na nagkaroon po ako ng quarter life crisis kasi lagi kong tinatanong, ‘Ito na ba talaga yung pupuntahan ko?’ Pero you just have to be happy with the things happening in your life,” he said.

“Sometimes, you just have to accept things. Hashtag blessed ka. Iyon na yung iniisip ko parati. Kung ito ang path na binigay sa akin ni Lord, you have to embrace it,” he added.

Hi mom meanwhile said he just chose to be practical in life.

“Naging praktikal lang ako. Pero kasi sa kadulu-duluhan ng araw, naisip ko, it’s all about passion and the willingness to help other people. Ito namang hosting, nalaman ko na ang dami palang natutuwa, nanonood ng YouTube, ASAP, para lang ma-uplilft yung pakiramdam nila. Kapag napatawa mo sila sa TV or sa event, parang malaking bagay na sa akin yon,” he said.

Although he did not follow their footsteps, Domingo said he still enjoys the support of his mom and dad.
