MANILA, Philippines – Feisty talent manager Annabelle Rama took her oath as member of former President Joseph Estrada's (United Nationalist Alliance) UNA party at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the Estrada residence in Polk Street, Greenhills, San Juan.
Rama is running as representative of Cebu's City's first district, which covers 46 barangays with a voting population of 240,000.
She will pursue children's welfare and infrastructure as the hallmark of her candidacy against the powerful Del Mar political dynasty.
Estrada laughed at political jokes that Rama will be a good “loudspeaker of the House.”
"Maingay siya but that can also be her advantage. We also need a strong candidate in Cebu," said Estrada.
Rama, for her part, said she will prove that she will be a capable and corruption-free lawmaker.
She will run under the slogan "Annabelle para sa mahirap."
Rama has consolidated the support of her family in her foray into uncharted territory which she compares to the intricate world of showbiz.
"Pumayag na rin sina Raymond, Richard and Ruffa," she said.
