MANILA -- "I'm surprised I'm still alive," Nadine Lustre joked in an Instagram story on Saturday, after learning that the illness she had been ignoring for about two weeks was actually dengue.
She had been "really sick" since she got back from a trip to Mt. Ulap in Benguet, and had been experiencing "on and off fever, weakness, bruising, [and] cold."
She did not think about the symptoms too much, and so was stunned by her doctor's pronouncement.
"[T]hinking it was probably just off season for me. Didn't really think about it too much. Fast forward. Got a check up today..Doctor comes in and tells me it was Dengue," she wrote.
"DMN. I'm surprised I'm still alive after 2 weeks of leaving it, ignoring it."
In early September, Lustre and boyfriend James Reid climbed Mt. Ulap in Benguet with a few friends.
She shared photos of the experience on Instagram.
One photo, which showed Lustre's arm around Reid, sent the actress' followers abuzz, as it was captioned "You are clarity amidst the chaos".
