MANILA, Philippines – For her upcoming indie comedy film, actress Angelica Panganiban will be sharing the big screen with an Australian newcomer in local showbiz.
In "#MadalingArawMahabangGabi," the Kapamilya actress will co-star with disc jockey and upcoming actor Callum David (seen with Panganiban in the video at 00:26), an Australian model who is now based in the Philippines.
Before landing his stint as among the ensemble cast of the comedy film, David drew attention among netizens and TV viewers when he performed as a DJ during the coronation night of the 2012 Bb. Pilipinas in April.
Originally from Queensland, Australia, the 24-year-old DJ was also a model in Brisbane, and later in Thailand and South Korea, before he went on to become a visible presence in TV and print ads in the Philippines.
In the country, he has appeared on billboards for a clothing line and in TV commercials for a number of products, including an ad for a soap brand, where he appeared opposite actress Anne Curtis.
For his debut film, David will star alongside established names in the industry, including Panganiban, Rocco Nacino, Tutti Caringal, Kean Cipriano, Edgar Allan Guzman, Buboy Garovillo, Alchris Galura, Dominic Roco, Karel Marquez, Lou Veloso, Eric Tai and Cherie Gil.
Written and directed by Dante Nico Garcia, of the internationally-acclaimed film "Ploning," "#MadalingArawMahabangGabi" tells the story of a group of strangers whose lives intertwine at a bar in Puerto Princesa in Palawan.
As the eve of All Souls' Day approaches, "[the viewers] become complicit as each of the characters takes the challenge of the Pangangaluluwa, a seemingly innocent Palawan tradition of honoring the dead by stealing something from the living."
Produced by Panoramanila Pictures, "#MadalingArawMahabangGabi" will hit theaters nationwide on November 7.
