MANILA, Philippines - In line with her participation in the American singing contest “The Sing-Off,” former Pinoy teen star Antoinette Taus said she will do her best on behalf of all Filipinos worldwide.

"It’s almost like I'm not just doing it for me, I'm also doing it for Filipinos everywhere,” she told ABS-CBN News.

Taus, a member of singing group “Kinfolk 9,” said she is proud of her roots. She added that it is important for her to be identified as a Filipino.

She said, “It's really important to me that people know that I'm a Filipino."

“Kinfolk 9” is an a cappella singing group started by Taus’ close friend Jenilee Reyes.

Despite her previous musical experience, Taus admitted that she finds a cappella singing extremely challenging.

"Akala ko madali. Grabe, [this is] one of the hardest thing I've ever done, singing-wise. Kasi if you're singing a cappella, it has to be extremely perfect. One little mistake, one pitchy part, ruins everything because there's no music."

“Kinfolk 9” has made it to the top 14 of "The Sing-Off."

The winning group in the competition will be awarded with a recording contract with Sony Music and a $100,000 prize. – Report from Yong Chavez, ABS-CBN News, Hollywood, California
