MANILA, Philippines - Diether Ocampo is unfazed by rumors that his former ex, Kristine Hermosa, will soon tie the knot with Oyo Sotto.
“Why should I be sad?” asked Ocampo, who has also admitted that he and girlfriend Rima Ostwani—who, coincidentally, is a Kristine Hermosa look-alike—have gone their separate ways.
Ostwani recently announced that she was formally entering showbiz. Boy Abunda is reportedly managing her career.
Ocampo says that if he and Ostwani were teamed up in a project, his answer wouldn’t be an automatic no. In an industry as competitive as show business—where a star is only as good as his last movie or show—turning down projects can prove risky.
So if he is given the opportunity to work with Ostwani onscreen, Ocampo says he would be willing to at least consider the idea. “Ayoko unahan ang mangyayari; I’ll cross the bridge when I get there,” said the actor, who is reportedly about to start another project, this time with no less than Kris Aquino.
This is following Ocampo’s appearance as Hector in the top-rating Rubi, where he starred opposite Angelica Panganiban. “It’s a big honor to work with Ms. Kris,” he said.
The actor stressed that because of all the career breaks he’s getting, he has no reason at all to be sad and to mope over his lovelife—or, to be more precise—the lack of one. Ocampo went stag to the Star Magic Ball and didn’t bother trying to get a date. “Medyo abala din kasi ako sa trabaho,” he said.
What happened, the breakup and the period of recovery also helped him. It taught him several valuable lessons. “Di naman malungkot ang nangyari. Nakatulong din naman dahil nag-mature ako lalo. No matter how it turns out, love is always a great experience.”
Asked if he would still be open to falling in love or dating someone again, Ocampo gave the press a knowing smile and joked. “Meron pa kayang makikipag-date sa akin?”
When the press replied that he was still young and highly eligible, Ocampo smiled again and said, “Sabi n’yo eh.”
Aside from his showbiz career, Ocampo is also busy with his advocacies, particularly his K.I.D.S. (Kabataang Inyong Dapat Suportahan) Foundation.
