Anne all praises for Andi in 'major role'
MANILA, Philippines -- Coming off the massive success of her first big screen team-up with Derek Ramsay, actress Anne Curtis admits she feels pressured to replicate the box-office achievement of "No Other Woman" for her new film with the hunk actor.
|Anne Curtis was launched as the newest endorser of a local coffee brand on Tuesday.
"I know that there is pressure, but I think it's best that you don't expect to have another blockbuster hit," Curtis told reporters on the sidelines of a press conference for her latest endorsement on Tuesday night.
"Kasi that happens naman every once in a while, but that doesn't mean every film has to be like that," she added, referring to "No Other Woman," her first film with Ramsay.
Released in 2011, the Ruel Bayani-directed movie was declared as the highest grossing Filipino film of all time only two weeks into its theatrical run.
With estimated earnings of P278 million, it went on to become the second highest-grossing local film in Philippine cinema after "Praybeyt Benjamin."
"Tingin ko rin kasi it goes with the trend, kung ano 'yung gusto ng mga tao panoorin," said Curtis, who will star opposite Ramsay anew in "Nothing Compares to You."
In the upcoming romantic film, Ramsay portrays a man torn between the characters of Curtis and actress Andi Eigenmann. According to the "Agua Bendita" star, she plays the "other woman" in the Nuel Naval-directed film.
"Masaya ka-work si Andi, mahusay siya tulad ng nanay niya," Curtis said of her first-time co-star.
Eigenmann's mother, veteran actress Jaclyn Jose, is the onscreen mom of Curtis in "Nothing Compares to You."
"So you know, it's so funny to see two different generations of amazing actresses, kasi nakuha ni Andi talaga. Ang galing, ang husay niya umarte," said Curtis, whose character in the film will be relatively tame compared to Kara of "No Other Woman."
"Sa 'kin kasi sexier 'yung 'No Other Woman,' but for Andi, it's a major role for her, that's why im excited for her," she said.
