Sponge Cola, Christian top Star Awards for Music

MANILA, Philippines -- ABS-CBN artists dominated the 4th PMPC Star Awards for Music held on Sunday night at the Meralco Theater in Pasig with many regulars of the Sunday concert program "ASAP 2012" taking home the top prizes.

The event was hosted by Concert Queen Pops Fernandez and actors Maja Salvador and Xian Lim.

Martin Nievera, Sponge Cola, Christian Bautista, Cabangon, The Company and Wonder Guys were the night's biggest winners, winning two awards each.

Aside from winning the awards Male Concert Performer and Best Revival Album, Nievera was also given the special Natatanging Alagad ng Musika award, along with Gary Valenciano, Kuh Ledesma, Lea Salonga, Pops Fernandez, Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez, Sharon Cuneta and Zsa Zsa Padilla, along with composers Boy Christopher, Lito Camo and Vehnee Saturno.

Erik Santos bagged one of the major awards of the evening when his single "Kulang Ako Kung Wala Ka" was named Song of The Year, while the Album of the Year prize went to "Araw Oras Tagpuan" from the band Sponge Cola.

Aiza Seguerra and Jed Madela took home the Female and Male Recording Artist of the Year trophies, resepectively, while The Company won the Duo/Group Artist of the Year.
