MANILA - Enrique Gil admitted that he asked Star Cinema to have Liza Soberano as his leading lady for his next projects after he got to work with the actress in the movie "She's the One".
"Actually sinabi ko talaga kay Tita Malou Santos na sana ay mag-work kami [ni Liza] after this. True enough, noong pinalabas 'yung 'She's the One', may nakita sila, 'yung eksena sa dulo, [sabi nila] baka pwede naman.' Kaya na-conceptualize 'yung 'The Bet' and they told us to portray the roles," Gil said as he renewed his contract with Star Cinema on Thursday.
"Siguro first time ko lang siguro [mag-request]... Noong nagpo-promote kami ng 'She's the One', so kasama ko si Liza tapos pumasok si Tita Malou sa loob ng tent. Tapos sinabi niya, 'OK kayo ha? Kamusta si Liza?' Tapos sabi ko, 'OK lang. Kung gusto mo, gawa pa kami ng isa pa.' Ganoon lang, tapos [sabi niya], 'Sige, sige, gagawa tayo.' Tapos eto, 'The Bet' tapos 'Forevermore' (TV series)," he added.
When asked why he specifically wants Soberano to be his leading lady, Gil said: "'Pag nakita niyo siya, parang genuine na what you see is what you get. She's so young kasi so she's a sweetheart so parang genuine. Wala ka pang makikitang malisya, as in wala."
Despite expressing his admiration for Soberano, however, Gil stressed that his priority right now is his career.
Star Magic Ball
Meanwhile, Gil shared his excitement to have Soberano as his date for the Star Magic Ball this Saturday.
The actor said he personally asked Soberano to be with him in the event.
"Sabi ko, 'May kasama ka na ba?' Sabi niya wala pa. 'Can I take you out to the date?' Sabi niya, 'Sure.' Tapos OK na," Gil said.
The eighth Star Magic Ball will be aired on Sunday after "Gandang Gabi Vice".
