ABS-CBN maintains leadership in daytime, primetime

MANILA, Philippines -- Carried by the success of its top-rating shows during its daytime and primetime blocks, ABS-CBN continued its reign in national TV ratings for the month of August.

Top-rating daytime series "Be Careful With My Heart" earned an
average morning audience share of 22.6% in August, compared
to the competing show's 9.9%, according to Kantar Media.

According to the latest data of multinational market research group Kantar Media, the Kapamilya network has even widened its lead from its main competition, GMA-7, during the month of August.

ABS-CBN garnered an average audience share of 43% nationwide on total day viewership, compared to GMA-7's 31%.

Ratings sweep

During daytime in August, more people tuned in to the Kapamilya network, earning ABS-CBN a 41% average morning audience share, 3 percentage points higher than in July.

Daytime programs are those aired between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon.

In part owing to the top-rating daytime series "Be Careful With My Heart" and "Two Wives," ABS-CBN took 3% of GMA-7's morning audience share from the previous month, cutting the latter's average rating to 29%.

Kapamilya programs aired between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., or the afternoon shows, also proved to be top-raters among national viewers.

The afternoon block of ABS-CBN, in August, had a lead of 5 perecentage-points over GMA-7, garnering an average total audience share of 39%.

Kicking off with the teen-oriented "fantaserye" "Aryana," the Kapamilya network's primetime block had double the registered average audience share of GMA-7's in August.

ABS-CBN shows aired between 6:00 p.m. and 12 midnight garnered an average audience share of 49%, compared to GMA-7's 29%.

The reigning streak of the Kapamilya network also figured across its genre of program offerings during weekdays and weekends.

Kantar Media also reported that among the 15 most watched programs in the country in August, 13 of them were ABS-CBN shows.

Among the 15 top-raters in August are ABS-CBN's long-running drama anthology "Maalaala Mo Kaya," primetime newscast "TV Patrol," weekend magazine show "Rated K," game show "Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal," and concert variety program "Sarah G Live."

Also in the top 15 most watched programs for the month of August are "Be Careful With My Heart," fantasy anthology "Wansapanataym," kiddie gag show "Goin' Bulilit," "Aryana," primetime series "Lorenzo's Time," and reality singing contest "The X-Factor Philippines."

Consistently ranking in the top two spots are ABS-CBN's primetime offerings "Walang Hanggan" and "Princess and I."
