MANILA, Philippines -- Actress Sunshine Cruz is all praises for Kapamilya star Angel Aquino, the latest onscreen partner of her husband Cesar Montano.
In the "maindie" film "Biktima," Aquino portrays a passionate journalist whose life is put to danger when she is sent to cover the goings-on in a war-torn village.
Aquino's husband in the film is Montano.
"Imagine, kung titingnan mo siya, napaka-sophisticated, pero dito, no, talagang napakagaling umarte talaga ng isang Angel Aquino," added Cruz, who will also make a "special" apperance in the R.D. Alba-directed film.
Quizzed on her supporting role in the film, as opposed to being cast as her real-life husband's leading lady, Cruz said: "I've done a lot of movies with my husband. I think it's about time na iba naman. Ako'y pwede namang leading lady nalang sa bahay."
Among Cruz's earlier film projects with Montano are "Bullet" (1990), "Alas Dose" (2001) and "Ligalig" (2006).
Movie on family
Although they do not portray husband and wife in "Biktima," Cruz said the film will nonetheless tackle the togetherness of a family amid trying times.
"Kwento ito ng isang newscaster na kailangan niya pumili kung trabaho o pamilya, since ang kanyang passion ay newscasting," Cruz said of Aquino's character.
"Dito may nangyaring hindi magandang nangyari sa kanya, pero nandoon 'yung suporta ng pamilya niya. [The film tackles] love for family, support for your wife, and 'yung importansya ng pamilya talaga sa isang tao," she added.
To be released by Star Cinema, "Biktima" hits theaters nationwide on September 19.
