MANILA, Philippines – “You can never put a good man down.”

This is what veteran actress Helen Gamboa said amid all the issues hounding her husband, Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, in connection with his stand on the controversial Reproductive Health (RH) Bill.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Sunday night, Gamboa said their entire family remains strong despite the tirades thrown at Sotto.

“Kasi kami nagpe-pray lang kami. Kay Tito Sen naman, he only stands for what he believes in. 'Yun lang naman 'yun. Kanya-kanya 'yan talaga, kanya-kanyang paniniwala, kanya-kanyang outlook at opinyon,” she said.

“Hindi naman niya pinipilit ang lahat na mag-agree sa kanya. Basta sinasabi niya ang side niya,” she added.

But while she is behind her husband through this ordeal, Gamboa admitted that the negative comments that have been hurled at the senator also hurt.

“Siyempre lahat kami for that matter nahu-hurt. Pero sabi namin may Diyos naman eh, you can never put a good man down,” she said.

Last month, Sotto delivered his turno en contra speeches questioning the RH bill at the Senate, saying his fight against the controversial measure is personal.

The senator, however, noted that his speeches opposing the RH Bill have been sidetracked by allegations of plagiarism.

Various blogs and other social networking sites have attacked Sotto for the alleged plagiarism.
