MANILA – “Mahal ko siya.”
This was the simple answer of actor Jason Abalos when asked why he immediately ironed out whatever issues he had with girlfriend, Vickie Rushton amid rumors that their relationship was affected when the former “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate was linked to fellow housemate and eventual winner Daniel Matsunaga during their stint in the reality show.
In an interview with “The Buzz” on Sunday, Abalos reported that their relationship is now much stronger now that the show has finished.
“Sinabi ko lang [na kailangan namin mag-usap] kasi na-miss ko siya sobra,” he said.
Asked what they talked about, Abalos said: “Siguro kasi may mga nasabi siya sa loob ng bahay, siguro 'yung mga pagkukulang ko, ganun.”
Abalos also insisted he was never really bothered about rumors romantically linking Rushton to Matsunaga because he trusts his girlfriend.
“May tiwala naman ako kay Vickie. Sa akin lang talaga, 'yung mga hindi namin napag-usapan na issues nung bago siya pumasok sa bahay. 'Yun lang talaga yung hindi malinaw sa akin, 'yung hind iklaro,” he said.
Before Rushton and Matsunaga were teased by fellow housemates as a potential couple, the “PBB” fourth placer, earlier in the season, opened up about her frustrations about her relationship with Abalos.
Among the issues she raised was the Abalos was supposedly not exerting enough efforts to make their relationship special, and what she referred to as a "boring" routine when they go on dates.
During the run of the reality show, Abalos was allowed to visit the famous yellow house to settle their issues.
Meanwhile, as proof that all is well between them, Abalos revealed that he actually got Rushton a car as a surprise gift following her successful “PBB” stint.
“Kasi nung pagpasok niya sa bahay, sabi ko paglabas baka kailangan ng sasakyan. So naisip ko maghanap ng sasakyan, second hand na Honda Accord,” he said.
Rushton and Abalos have been a couple for over a year now.
