MANILA -- After announcing that she is no longer part of TV5 Network, Inc., the management of veteran actress Sharon Cuneta released a statement, clarifying that the contract of actress-host with the No. 3 network was actually pre-terminated.
In an official statement given to ABS-CBN News, Vic del Rosario, the head of VIVA Entertainment, said Cuneta's "contractual relationship" with TV5 officially ended last August 18 or more than two years ahead of the original contract period that was supposed to expire in 2016.
"Ms. Cuneta graciously announced the end of her relationship with TV5 in social media, and TV5 later came out with an official statement thanking Ms. Cuneta for being part of the Kapatid Network for almost three years and wishing her well in all her future endeavors," the statement said.
However, the statement added that: "Underneath these cordial expressions, however, lie a host of unresolved issues pertaining to the pre-termination of the contract, including the causes thereof and the consequential injuries suffered by the aggrieved party. These matters are left for resolution privately between the parties themselves or, if necessary, through an appropriate formal proceeding."
"In the meantime, Ms. Cuneta intends to enjoy the restful company of people who have always loved and believed in her, in good times and in bad times, and at the same time re-create herself for even bigger opportunities in her phenomenal career," the statement said.
Cuneta announced that she is no longer part of TV5 last Friday.
In a text message to ABS-CBN News, Peachy Guioguio of TV5's corporate communications department said the network wishes Cuneta well in her future endeavors.
Cuneta recently admitted in an open letter to her fans that she is "going through one of the lowest times of my life and career." She also revealed other frustrations, including problems with her weight.
In 2012, Sharon signed a reported record-breaking P1-billion contract with the Manny V. Pangilinan-owned network.
She hosted her own talk show entitled "Kasama Mo, Kapatid," and became a co-host of a musical variety show "The Mega and the Songwriter" alongside Ogie Alcasid.
She also starred in the sitcom "Madam Chairman" in 2013.
