MANILA, Philippines – With an onscreen team-up spanning a decade, actor John Lloyd Cruz sees long-time "love team" partner Bea Alonzo as being "instrumental" to his success as an actor.

"For the past 10 years, itong taong 'to 'yung ka-share ko sa acting space ko, ka-share ko sa mga eksena ko. At humuhugot din ako sa kanya," Cruz said of Alonzo in an interview with "Take One."

Since being cast as lawyers-turned-lovers Yuri and Katrina in the 2002 drama series "Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay," Cruz and Alonzo have starred in five soaps and six films.

In celebration of their tandem's 10 years, the two will topbill their seventh TV series via "A Beautiful Affair," and will star in their seventh big screen outing together via Star Cinema's "The Mistress."

"Nakakatuwa kasi every project namin, iniisip namin, uy baka last na, pero hindi eh, parang iniisip nila, kaya pa, marami pang sumusuporta," Alonzo said of their love team's longevity.

"So kung tatanungin mo ko, kung gaano ka-instrumental si Bea sa aking naging career as an actor -- malaking part siya ng success ko, malaking part siya ng identity ng kung sino ako as an actor," Cruz said.

'Only with Bea'

According to the 29-year-old actor, the "chemistry" he has forged with Alonzo over the years makes him more confident of filming certain challenging scenes, which he said he can only give justice to if paired with the Kapamilya actress.

"'Yung ganito ka-special na chemistry, it's something else. Na-realize ko this year na may mga eksena ako na magagawa ko lang pag si Bea 'yung kasama ko," Cruz said.

For Alonzo, who was only 14 when he was first paired onscreen with Cruz, their portrayals through the years somehow reflect their respective states in life.

"Sobra talaga 'yung pasasalamat namin dun sa mga naniwala sa 'min ng 10 taon. Ang trabaho namin, sabay siya pagbabago ng buhay mo, sabay siya ng panahon," she said.

Directed by Olivia Lamasan, Alonzo and Cruz's "10th anniversary" film "The Mistress" will hit theaters nationwide on September 12.
