MANILA, Philippines – Actress Bea Alonzo refuses to feel pressured to make her latest movie with long-time on screen partner John Lloyd Cruz a box office hit.

"The Mistress" lead stars Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz

In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Wednesday, Alonzo said she does not mind whether they establish a box office record or not.

She said she is confident that people will enjoy “The Mistress” because of the story that it has to offer.

“Sa story talaga siya, confident kami sa ino-offer ng story. Kung ‘yun lang, okay na ako, without thinking about the box office and everything,” she said.

She, however, did not discount the fact that being paired with Cruz in the movie is definitely a great advantage.

“Siyempre nakatulong na si John Lloyd ang kasama ko. Alam mo na, mga tao na nagmahal sa amin from day 1, alam mong papanoorin nila ‘to para suportahan nila,” she said.

Two previous movies of Cruz and Alonzo are on the list of all-time top local films shown in the Philippines, according to figures from Box Office Mojo.

"One More Chance" is at No. 5 with P152.8 million, while "Miss You Like Crazy" is at No. 7 with P143 million.

Aside from Cruz and Alonzo, “The Mistress” also stars Ronaldo Valdez and Hilda Coronel.

It will be shown in theaters nationwide on September 12.
