MANILA - Matteo Guidicelli is the latest local celebrity to join the ice bucket challenge craze, which aims to raise awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or ALS.
The 25-year-old actor, who was nominated by fellow triathlete Ivan Carapiet, posted a video of him taking the dare on his Instagram page Wednesday.
Guidicelli passed on the dare to his personal assistant Jasmine Brillantes, concert director Rowell Santiago, composer Louie Ocampo, dentist Dr. Steve Mark Gan.
Over the past week, several other big-name stars joined the popular social media campaign, most recently Anne Curtis, Angel Locsin, Luis Manzano, Bea Alonzo, and Zanjoe Marudo.
While rules vary, the ice bucket challenge generally has participants recording themselves getting poured with ice water on the head. The video is supposed to be published online within 24 hours of being challenged.
Before getting drenched, a participant can tag other people to take up the challenge. Those who refuse to do the dare are expected to donate to the ALS Association, or any foundation pursuing research on the disease.
However, as it has unfolded on social media, celebrities tagged to do the challenge still make significant donations despite agreeing to take up the dare.
