MANILA - "The Voice Kids" winner Lyca Gairanod finally got to share her singing talent in the episode of "Hawak Kamay" on Tuesday.
In the primetime series, the 9-year-old singing champion portrays street kid Lilet, who sells sampaguita to help her grandmother recover from an illness.
Obliging the request of her new-found friend, Dara (Xyriel Manabat), who is preparing for a talent competition in school, Lilet sang a few lines from the Aegis hit "Halik."
After hearing her voice, Ningning (Yesha Camile) suggested to Lilet to have videos of her singing uploaded online, in the hope of getting discovered for a big break.
Gairanod debuted on "Hawak Kamay" last Friday, a week after fellow "The Voice Kids" talent Juan Karlos Labajo joined the series, which is top-billed by Piolo Pascual and Iza Calzado.
On Wednesday, ABS-CBN announced Gairanod has also been cast in another primetime series with the working title "Nathaniel." Here, she will star alongside Gerald Anderson and Shaina Magdayao.
Gairanod will also make her big-screen debut on Christmas Day, with the release of the Metro Manila Film Festival entry "Praybeyt Benjamin 2."
These are on top of a singing career poised to take off, with a solo album in the works and an upcoming concert tour with music veteran Lani Misalucha.
