MANILA - Celebrity couple Bea Alonzo and Zanjoe Marudo took the ice bucket challenge on Tuesday afternoon, only hours after they were nominated by onscreen sweethearts Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.
Alonzo posted the video of the challenge on her Instagram page.
Among the personalities the couple dared to follow suit were actress Toni Gonzaga, film directors Paul Soriano and Cathy Garcia-Molina, child star Ryzza Mae Dizon, and basketball player LA Tenorio.
In the caption of her video, Alonzo urged her followers to also help raise awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or ALS, for which the ice bucket challenge was originally mounted.
While rules vary, the ice bucket challenge generally has participants recording themselves getting poured with ice water on the head. The video is supposed to be published online within 24 hours of being challenged.
Before getting drenched, a participant can tag other people to take up the challenge. Those who refuse to do the dare are expected to donate to the ALS Association in the United States, or any foundation pursuing research on the disease.
However, as it has unfolded on social media, celebrities tagged to do the challenge still make significant donations despite agreeing to take up the dare.
