MANILA – “You don’t really choose where you’re born but in our hearts, we can choose where we belong to.”
These were the words of Daniel Matsunaga’s sister, Vanessa, after the Japanese-Brazilian model was declared the winner of the reality show “Pinoy Big Brother All In” on Sunday night.
In an interview with ABS-CBNnews.com after the announcement of winners, Vanessa became emotional as she expressed how happy she is for her brother.
“I want to thank the Lord because this is not our victory but it’s God’s victory. Thank you so much, everyone that voted for Daniel, thank you so much for all the support, the continued voting for him. This is not his victory, it’s yours. Thank you so much for accepting us as your own,” she said.
Vanessa, however, admitted that at one point, she also doubted whether her brother would even make it to the Big 4 because they do not have any Filipino blood.
“From the start, we’re very hopeful, of course. But since he’s not Filipino, there’s always the little doubt that people might not really want him to be the Big Winner since it’s 'Pinoy Big Brother,'” she said.
“Daniel belongs to this country and I’m very happy to see that the Filipino people accepted him,” she added.
Following Matsunaga’s feat, Vanessa said their whole family will now be staying in the Philippines.
“Not only my mom but my entire family [will be moving to the Philippines]. This country adopted us and gave us opportunity that we never had before. I am just so happy,” she said.
Asked if their family already has plans now that Matsunaga is out of the “PBB” house, Vanessa said: “First of all, I want to feed him. He lost so many, I don’t know how many kilos, maybe 10 kilos. I got gulat when I hugged him because he’s so thin. We want to cook him all the food that he’s missing. That’s the first plan. We don’t really have other plans. I just want to hug him. I just want to be close to him and enjoy his presence again.”
With tears in her eyes, Vanessa again thanked those who supported her brother and helped him reach his dream.
“Guys, every one of you, thank you so much for all the love, for all the compassion, for accepting us. It means the world to us. I want to thank the Lord for each one of you because without you, this wouldn’t be possible,” she said.
Maris Racal was named "PBB: All In" second big placer, followed by Jane Oineza and Vickie Rushton.
