MANILA - "The Voice Kids" champion Lyca Gairanod had the crowd cheering wildly last Saturday when she met Dionisia Pacquiao, whose rendition of "Wrecking Ball" was spoofed by the young singer earlier this month.
The 9-year-old met the mother of Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao during her show with fellow "The Voice Kids" talents Darren Espanto, Juan Karlos Labajo, and Darlene Vibares at KCC Mall in General Santos City.
Dionisia Pacquiao or Mommy D, as she's called in showbiz, joined Gairanod on stage as the "Hawak Kamay" star sang her spoof of her "Wrecking Ball" performance.
Mommy D first performed the Miley Cyrus hit during a special episode of "Gandang Gabi Vice" in April, making her a top trending topic on Twitter worldwide at the time.
Gairanod spoofed Mommy D on the same program during her guesting with her fellow "The Voice Kids" finalists, which similarly generated buzz online just last week.
In a video of Gairanod and Mommy D's meeting uploaded by YouTube user Laila Samson, the 65-year-old is seen voicing out her support for the former trash scavenger from Tanza, Cavite.
"Mga nanay, ang mga anak natin pagbigyan natin kung ano'ng talento," she said. "Tulad ng anak ko, hindi siya magpapigil sa kanyang pag-boxing. Siyempre, suporta tayo sa ating mga anak. Masaya tayo kung may tayong anak tayo ganito tulad ni Lyca. Proud na proud tayo [sa kanya] dito sa Pilipinas!"
Thanking Mommy D, Gairanod drew laughs when she gestured "mano" and called her "Lola." Before they exited the stage, Gairanod kissed Mommy D on her cheek.
