'TV Patrol' reporter challenges Grace Poe
MANILA - "Talk Back and You're Dead" stars James Reid and Nadine Lustre on Monday joined the ice bucket challenge craze, which aims to promote awareness of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or ALS, during a mall show promoting their hit movie.
The onscreen partners, who were nominated by their fans, took the dare while on stage at the activity area of Market! Market! mall in Taguig, with hundreds of onlookers cheering them on.
Reid and Lustre poured a bucket of ice water on each other.
Obliging the chant of his fans, Reid took the challenge shirtless.
Lustre nominated her "Talk Back and You're Dead" co-stars Joseph Marco and Yassi Pressman, as well as actor-athlete Andre Paras. Reid, on the other hand, challenged "The Gifted" stars Anne Curtis, Cristine Reyes and Sam Milby.
After his dare, Reid called on "TV Patrol" reporter Mario Dumaual, who was covering the event, to take the challenge on stage. Dumaual was nominated earlier on Monday by fellow reporter Ginger Conejero.
Dumaual, who was doused with water by both Reid and Lustre, nominated Senator Grace Poe, Star Patrol anchor Gretchen Fullido and DZMM host Marc Logan.
While rules vary, the ice bucket challenge generally has participants recording themselves getting poured with ice water on the head. The video is supposed to be published online within 24 hours of being challenged.
Before getting drenched, a participant can tag other people to take up the challenge. Those who refuse to do the dare are expected to donate to the ALS Association in the United States, or any foundation pursuing research on the disease.
However, as it has unfolded on social media, celebrities tagged to do the challenge still make significant donations despite agreeing to take up the dare.
