MANILA -- After being nominated by Broadway actress Lea Salonga last Thursday, fellow "The Voice of the Philippines" coach Apl.de.Ap and actor Aga Muhlach took up the ALS ice bucket challenge.
In the video posted by Muhlach on Facebook, the actor said he has decided to both donate $100 and accept the challenge after having researched on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
"Because I did a research on this syndrome, I decided to do both, to raise awareness. I’m going to drench myself in ice cold water and at the same time donate," he said.
The actor then nominated Batangas Gov. Vilma Santo, actir Richard Gomez, Ronald Ventura and his wife Charlene Muhlach.
Meanwhile, Black Eyed Peas member Apl.de.ap also completed the challenge in a video posted on Sunday morning.
He nominated Enrique Iglesias, Manny Pacquiao, Fergie, Bruno Mars and TeamAPL crew members Vince, JJ and Audie.
The challenge aims to raise funds for the ALS Association (http://www.alsa.org/) in order to support those affected by the syndrome. It has received a total of $62.5 million as of Saturday.
The ALS ice bucket challenge has received positive responses from social media, with various celebrities having participated and donated to the foundation.
