'Banana Split' cast head to Qatar
MANILA, Philippines -- Actor John Prats and comedienne Sunshine Garcia belied rumors of a blooming romance between them.
During a press conference on the staging of ABS-CBN's late-night gag show "Banana Split" in Doha, Qatar, Prats and Garcia addressed rumors that they are romantically involved.
"Mas maganda kung si Sunshine nalang sumagot," Prats said in jest, adding, "Sa amin po talaga, para lang kaming magkakapatid."
"Hindi po, hindi po talaga. Talagang magkakapatid lang po kami dito," Garcia added, referring to their "family" as the cast of "Banana Split."
Following Prats' breakup with actress-host Bianca Manalo in May, which he initiated, Garcia has been rumored to be the cause of the split.
Another "Banana Split" star, actress Angelica Panganiban, was also rumored to have caused Manalo and Prats' breakup. In earlier interviews, Panganiban echoed her co-stars' sentiments that their relationship is only platonic.
Panganiban, herself embroiled in intrigues surrounding her relationship with actor John Lloyd Cruz, meanwhile, used micro-blogging site Twitter to chronicle her travel to Qatar with her fellow cast members in "Banana Split."
In a series of posts on the social networking site, Panganiban shared images of her bonding with Prats, actors Zanjoe Marudo and Jayson Gainza, comedian Pooh, and actress Melai Cantiveros.
The "Banana Split" stars are staging the show for Filipinos based in Doha, Qatar.
