MANILA - Two days before its highly anticipated finale, "Pinoy Big Brother: All In" switched formats, with TV host Kris Aquino asking the remaining housemates why they should become the reality show's next "Big Winner."
The live hour-long special on Friday was the combined telecast of Aquino's primetime talk show "Aquino & Abunda Tonight" and that night's episode of "Pinoy Big Brother."
Each of the housemates -- Daniel Matsunaga, Loisa Andalio, Maris Racal, Vickie Rushton, and Jane Oineza -- took turns on the hot seat, with Aquino asking them about issues they were involved in during their stay in "Pinoy Big Brother."
In their respective interviews, both Matsunaga and Rushton were made to clarify the real score between them, after they were romantically linked by housemates for a time.
While they admitted that they admired certain qualities in each other, the last two housemates denied they were attracted romantically.
Rushton, who is in a relationship with actor Jason Abalos, also belied speculation that she started opening up about her "love life" because she was starting to develop feelings for Matsunaga.
Similarly, Loisa Andalio and Jane Oineza were asked about their respective ties to former housemate Joshua Garcia.
Andalio admitted that she was hurt when Garcia started to ignore her when he became close with Oineza.
For her part, Oineza insisted that she did not lead Garcia on romantically, saying she had always been forthcoming about not wanting to have a relationship at this time.
Racal, whose parents were recently married inside the "Pinoy Big Brother" house, was interviewed by Aquino about her family. Explaining that she never once saw her mom and dad show affection towards each other, Racal said she was overjoyed to witness their wedding 25 years after they welcomed their eldest child.
All five housemates were then made to explain why they should be the next "Big Winner." Aquino also asked each of them to pick another housemate who is deserving of the title, if not himself or herself.
Matsunaga picked Rushton, while Rushton chose Racal.
Andalio, Racal, and Andalio all named Matsunaga as their choice for another deserving "Big Winner."
The five remaining housemates will be trimmed down to the "Big 4" on Saturday when another contestant is evicted from the house.
The naming of this season's "Pinoy Big Brother" champion will take place at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay on Sunday night, with a live telecast on ABS-CBN.
