MANILA, Philippines – Actress Lovi Poe is looking forward to walking down the red carpet at the Venice International Film Festival, where her movie “Thy Womb,” will be in competition.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Poe said she is already preparing the gown which she will wear for the international event.
|Actress Lovi Poe says she is looking forward to attending the 2012 Venice International Film Festival.
“I’m really nervous siyempre pero right now, what I’m actually feeling is I’m really excited to be there and to walk in the red carpet,” she said at the premiere of her latest movie, the horror flick "Guni-guni," on Tuesday night.
Poe said she feels honored to be part of the independent film by Cannes-winning director Brillante Mendoza as it gave her the opportunity to improve her acting.
“I’m so happy na nakasama ako sa movie ni Direk Brillante, who is an amazing director. Plus si Ms. Nora Aunor pa. No matter kung gaano man kalaki or gaano man kaliit ang role, I’m just so happy na I’m part of this movie,” she said.
“Sobrang galing ni Direk Brillante. Kakaiba siya. He wants to get something that’s very spontaneous. Wala kaming script na sinusunod when we were shooting. Whatever happens, tatawagin ka na lang, very natural ang dating,” Poe added.
The actress said she considers “Thy Womb” different from her other movies.
The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) announced last July that the Nora Aunor-starrer has been invited to join the Main Competition Section at this year's Venice International Film Festival.
The FDCP is a co-producer of the independent film.
Slated for a release later this year, "Thy Womb" is centered around Aunor's character, a midwife coping with her own infertility.
Aside from Aunor and Poe, the film also stars Bembol Roco and Mercedes Cabral. – with a report from Mario Dumaual, ABS-CBN News
