MANILA, Philippines -- Eastern Samar Rep. Ben Evardone and other lawmakers are proposing to make July 10 "Dolphy's Day"in the Philippines through House Bill 6392.
"This bill seeks to declare July 10 of every year as Filipino Fun Day. It is the least we Filipinos can return for every good laugh Tito Dolphy drew out from us, every good laugh we found refreshing even in anxious moments of our history," Evardone, chairman of the House Committee on Public Information, said in a statement.
He also filed House Resolution 2404 to declare Dolphy a National Artist.
According to the statement, the late Rep. Salvador Escudero III, chairman of the House Committee on Basic Education, had already scheduled the discussion on the resolution before he died last August 13.
