MANILA -- The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), through its Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino, awarded special prizes to three entries in the film festival during its thanksgiving night Sunday.
"Birdshot" by Mikhail Red was given the Critic's Choice Award, while "100 Daang Tula Para Kay Stella" by Jason Paul Laxaman brought home the Audience's Choice Award.
The Jury's Choice Award was given to "Patay Na Si Hesus" by Victor Villanueva.
From the producers of "Heneral Luna" and "Goyo," "Birdshot" tells the story of two crimes committed in an unnamed rural town, while Viva Film's "100 Tula Para Kay Stella" is about Fidel and his love for Stella.
Meanwhile, "Patay Na Si Hesus" is a Cebuano dark comedy about a mother and her three adult kids who goes on a roadtrip to attend the funeral of their long-estranged father.
Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino runs until August 22.
