MANILA - "The Voice Kids" champion Lyca Gairanod is on a roll.
Apart from a concert tour and a big-screen debut scheduled this year, the 9-year-old singer is set to join the cast of the primetime series "Hawak Kamay," producer ABS-CBN announced on Wednesday.
Gairanod will start taping this Friday a scene with mainstays Zaijian Jaranilla, Andrea Brillantes, Xyriel Manabat, Yesha Camile, and "The Voice Kids" runner-up Juan Karlos Labajo, who also recently joined the series.
Gairanod's casting in "Hawak Kamay" comes on the heels of the massive success of her acting debut in "Maalaala Mo Kaya," which posted a nationwide rating of 38.4% last Saturday, according to Kantar Media.
Now dubbed a "Little Superstar," Gairanod has also been cast in the Vice Ganda-starrer "Praybeyt Benjamin 2," which will compete in this year's Metro Manila Film Festival.
This is on top of a singing career that's poised to take off this year, with a solo album in the works under MCA Universal, and a guest stint in music veteran Lani Misalucha's upcoming concert tour.
