MANILA, Philippines - Estranged couple James Yap and Kris Aquino might face each other again on Friday, as the two parties try to iron out details of James's visitation rights to their child.
The two last saw each other more than a month ago, and are expected to meet again at the Makati Regional Trial Court for the hearing.
The hearing comes after Yap filed a formal motion to push for his visitation rights to his son, Baby James.
James' lawyer Lorna Kapunan said she is confident her client will get the visitation rights they are requesting, prior to James' departure for the United States this week.
"I'm nice, but I can be not nice. We'll have to resort to more drastic legal measures," Kapunan said.
James has appealed that he get a chance to be with his son for two days each week, and that he be given the right to bring his son to visit his grandparents in Escalante, Negros Occidental.
Kapunan said she is dismayed that her client still has not yet seen his son.
Kapunan said Aquino's side had told them they were open to having a meeting, but when they called the office of Aquino's lawyers, "no one" seemed to know about the meeting.
Meanwhile, the camp of the talk show host said it is better to talk about the visitation rights in court.
"Since Mr. James Yap asked for visitation via a motion, we thought it best to convey our proposed visitation arrangement via a comment filed in court. Thank you," a text message from Atty. Annaliza Logan, member of Aquino's legal team, said.
The Makati Regional Trial Court, under Judge Cristina Javallera Sulit, is expected to have a decision immediately after the closed-door hearing. Reporting by Ginger Conejero, ABS-CBN News
