MANILA -- A clip apparently showing comedian Jobert Austria sitting on the edge of the sixth floor of a building last Saturday is now making the rounds online.
The 90-second video, which was uploaded on YouTube on August 16, appears to have been taken from a building adjacent to Hotel Sogo along Quezon Avenue.
Austria, who was wearing a black and a beige shirt, is seen sitting on the edge of the building while holding on to a rope and an outdoor light fixture.
The "Banana Nite" cast member is then pulled in by a man in a blue shirt, apparently from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD). The rescue group struggles to get a hold of Austria, who is seen kicking, but eventually manages to restrain him.
The incident happened at around 1 p.m. last Saturday.
Austria, accompanied by "Banana Nite" co-star Badjie Mortiz, was brought to the QCPD where he explained why was on the edge of the building.
According to Austria, he had been getting threats in connection with his five-year relationship with his Canada-based girlfriend, who recently returned to the Philippines for a vacation.
In an interview on "The Buzz" that aired Sunday, Austria said he was not attempting to commit suicide. He clarified that he was only trying to get attention because men who are allegedly after him were waiting outside the hotel.
Austria admitted that he once underwent rehabilitation for past drug use. His friends are now planning to send Austria back to rehab after the incident.
