MANILA – Angel Locsin is making the most of her remaining free time before plunging back to work -- this time as the iconic Pinoy superhero Darna in an upcoming movie.
Although she is trying to prepare as early as now for the much-awaited film project, Locsin told ABS-CBN News that she wants to relax first with her loved ones.
“May kusa [na mag-prepare ako] na personal ko. But right now kasi, ine-enjoy ko muna 'yung pahinga ko, bakasyon. Marami akong ginagawa sa buhay ko ngayon, sa personal. I’m very happy,” she said.
Locsin felt she needed time off, especially after the top-rating series “The Legal Wife.”
“Parang medyo na-drain kasi tayo doon. Ngayon, ito lang 'yung time ko with my family, sa boyfriend ko. Basta may mga ginagawa ako, malalaman niyo na lang yun sa takdang panahon,” she said.
The 29-year-old actress first played the Mars Ravelo-created character in 2005 for a TV series.
In a previous interview, Locsin teased that the film version of "Darna" will set new standards in local filmmaking.
"Napakaganda noon para sa atin, 'di ba, na meron tayong ipapakita, mga bagong talentong ipapakita na ipagmamalaki nating mga Pilipino sa buong mundo, na makakagawa kayo ng ganitong klaseng pelikula," she said of the movie, which will be helmed by "On the Job" director Erik Matti.
"Kasi dati sinasabi nila, pag fantasy movie, parang medyo nahihirapan tayo dahil sa budget atsaka sa effects. Pero dito ngayon, all in talaga. Ibibigay namin sa inyo ang lahat," Locsin explained.
Best TV actress
Meanwhile, Locsin has added a new trophy to her collection after she was named best television actress at the recently concluded Eduk Circle Awards.
Locsin's boyfriend Luis Manzano was also awarded best game show host by the same award-giving body.
“Ang sarap ng pakiramdam na itong araw na ito, kasama ko 'yung napakaimportanteng tao sa buhay ko. Ang sarap ng pakiramdam na naishe-share mo itong araw na ‘to sa taong mahal mo. Nandito kami nagpapasalamat kami sa mga estudyante na bumuto sa amin at tingin nila karapatdapat kaming manalo dito,” Locsin said.
For his part, Manzano said: “Awards like these are different and kind of special. Kumbaga boto ito ng mga estudyante at mga teacher. Ibang klaseng acknowledgement ang nabibigay kapag alam mong sa kanila galing. Thank you, it’s a first and hopefully not the last.”
