Kim Chiu stands by 'PBB' comment
MANILA -- Actress Kim Chiu is standing by her decision to call out a "Pinoy Big Brother" housemate for being "lazy," saying she was just being honest.
Talking to reporters as she renewed her contract with ABS-CBN on Thursday, Chiu said she initially wanted to delete the controversial tweet, which became a hot topic on social media.
"We live in a democratic country. We have the freedom of speech, isa 'yon sa mga fundamental rights ng mga Filipino. Opinion naman 'yon ng isang tao and sana ay huwag nilang mamasamain," said Chiu, who rose to fame by winning the first teen edition of “Pinoy Big Brother” in 2006.
Chiu stressed that while she's not sorry for voicing out her opinion, she nonetheless wants to apologize to the reality show's fans who felt offended by her remark.
"Sa medyo na-offend, nirerespeto ko din naman 'yung opinion nila. 'Yun nga, kanya-kanyang opinion so sana huwag nilang masamain. At saka walang pangalan 'yon," Chiu said.
But asked who she thinks should win this season, Chiu said both celebrity Daniel Matsunaga and Davao teen Maris Racal are deserving of the title.
"Kasi sila yung nakikita kong totoo sa house," the "Ikaw Lamang" actress said. "Deserve nila to be the Big Winner kasi marami silang napatunayan sa loob ng Bahay."
