MANILA - It's all part of the game.
This was how Daniel Padilla and JC de Vera described their on-court scuffle when their teams faced off at the Araneta Coliseum on Sunday for the Star Magic All Star basketball game.
At one point in the game, Padilla accidentally stumbled when he and de Vera were both trying to keep possession of the ball.
Speaking to ABS-CBN News after the match, de Vera said: "First time ko maglaro. Wala ako last time. Hindi ko in-expect na ganun pala sila ka-intense. Pati ako nadala sa emotions."
The "Better Half" actor, however, clarified that he and Padilla immediately settled the matter.
"Nag-sorry ako. Sabi ko, 'Sorry bro, tumaas lang emotions ko.' After the game, nag-sorry ulit ako. Sabi ko pasensya na, hindi ko alam na ganito ka-intense," he said.
Padilla, on the other hand, said what happened was understandable because all of them wanted to win.
"Ako din nag-sorry ako [kay JC] kasi uminit din ako. Siyempre gusto niyo lahat manalo so hindi mawawala 'yung competitiveness ng lahat. Pero okay lang kami, no problem," he said.
At the end of the day, the two actors consider their basketball match a "fun game."
The Star Magic All Star Game saw de Vera's team, led by actor Gerald Anderson, winning by only three points, 93-90.
The game will air on August 20 on ABS-CBN after "ASAP," and on Sports and Action on the same date at 8 p.m.
